Aldar construction update: projects at Yas, Nareel and Reem islands coming along
Aldar has completed all of the internal block work on its first housing project on Abu Dhabi’s high-profile leisure destination Yas Island, the company says.
In a construction update issued on Wednesday, Abu Dhabi’s largest listed property developer said that external block work was now progressing at the 546 apartments in Ansam, which was the first residential development to be marketed on the island, in 2014, and is expected to be completed next year.
The developer said that interior work was also progressing, and nearing completion in certain areas. It said that mechanical, electrical and plumbing work was continuing.
Aldar said that infrastructure work at its nearby 1,017-villa project exclusively for Emiratis, West Yas, was also nearing completion and villa construction was now under way. The group said that facilities on the project, such as a mosque, shopping centre and health club, would be complete by the end of the year and a school on the site, West Yas Academy, has been operational since August. West Yas was launched last year and is expected to be complete next year.
Aldar said that it was tendering early-works packages at its newest and most ambitious Yas Island project to date – 1,315 villas it plans to build at Yas Acres that it seeks to deliver by the end of 2019.
Aldar said it expected to start working on the project by the end of this year and to appoint a main contractor by the middle of next year.
At Aldar’s Al Raha Beach development close to Abu Dhabi International Airport, Aldar said that it had completed all 10 storeys of its Al Hadeel block.
It said that construction work had started at its super-luxury, Emirati-only plot sales project in Nareel Island, off the Al Bateen coast in the capital and at Al Merief in Khalifa City, after the company awarded construction contracts over the summer.
The company said that it had also completed enabling works at its first mid-market housing project, Shams Meera on Reem Island, and construction teams for the main contract package have started work.
And in Al Ain, Aldar said it expected work on its Al Jimi Mall expansion to be complete by the end of the first quarter of 2018.
